Artist's rendition of downtown Sandpoint, Idaho - Home of Solar Roadways
Graphic design by Sam Cornett
Is it possible that one day all of our energy needs will be satisfied by the sun? There is significantly more pavement out there than rooftops and solar farms combined. If just a small percentage of this pavement was replaced with traffic durable solar panels, then perhaps power plants will become a thing of the past.
Additionally, solar roadways can be embedded with LED's so that warning messages can be "written" on the road. Lane shifts will no longer require cones and re-striping; just re-program the LED stripes to another position. Additionally, snow does not accumulate on solar panel roadways.
